Apart from traditional ethnographic methods like participant observation, in-depth interviews, archival methods, and textual analysis, I use spatial analysis and story maps to visualize experiences of my interlocutors, as well as giving a macro level overview of the political geography of my fieldwork site.
Over the last sixteen years, the Iraqi political field has undergone several transformations, and witnessed formation and evolution of various political coalitions. This story map visualizes and traces the different electoral systems as well as political coalitions over the last sixteen years.
Yezidis in Iraq, a story of Genocide and Resilience (work in progress)
This story map gives an overview of various issues faced by Iraqi Yezidis over the last twenty years, such as the 2007 ISIS attack, the ISIS genocide, displacement, mass graves, progress in international recognition of Yezidi Genocide, and the current trials of ISIS suspects.
